Naval Traditions

The US Naval Academy has turned out naval officer candidates (“midshipmen”) since 1845. Here the US Marine battle flag hangs in the Academy chapel.

The two old gatehouses of the Academy have been repurposed for modern use

Town and State House

The Maryland capitol dome is within walking distance of the Academy. It is the oldest statehouse in continuous use, built in 1772.
