In the early years of Jap[an’s postwar economic boom, this resort on the Izu Peninsula south of Tokyo became known as a prime spot for romantic dalliances for Tokyoites. It offered natural beauty with hot springs, always a popular combination in Japan, yet was conveniently nearby on the bullet train.
