Cinque Terre: Palmaria

Exploring an Island

Palmaria is an island immediately across the bay from Portovenere, served by ferry. It’s inhabitants cluster on the sheltered side facing town, with a single village, Pozzale.

Heading to Palmaria

We take a short trip by boat from Port Venere to the neighboring island of Palmaria. Below: Portovenere recedes behind us.

Now we get views from higher up
Crossing the top of the ridge, can see the old watchtower on the La Spezia side of the island
On this side we can also see adjacent Tino Island. A smaller island, Tinetto, is hidden behind it. Note the lighthouse on top.
