UK: Wainwright Day 5 – Glenridding to Shap

Our Highest Point

Today we cross Kidsty Pike, our highest point at 2650 ft., and in rain which is at times heavy.

A rainy day

I have stayed in Glenridding last night, and so must make my way to our hiking group’s start at Patterdale in the rain.

We climb toward Angle Tarn
High on Kidsty Pike, we encounter intermittent rain and high winds
Crossing the top of the Pike, our highest point at 2560′
Haweswater and Wood Howe island
We cross Randale Beck
Now that Kidsty Pike is absorbing more of the rainfall, we get some clearing weatherman the other side
At Naddle Bridge, our first honor box. A local has set out drinks that can buy.
Crossing Swindale Beck
Over the fields toward Shap
