UK: Wainwright Day 9 – Reeth to Richmond

The Last of Swaledale

Since crossing the Pennines, we have been hiking east along the broadening valley of the river Swale. Now we cross flatter country at the beginning of the Vale of Mowbray.

Toward Richmond

We walk through a series of small farm villages.

Richmond

This is the largest town we pass through on the hike, 9,000 population, and the market town for the region.
