Flagstaff

High Country History

Located at 7000 ft above the Mogollon Rim, the ancient earthquake fault that divides the Kaibab Plateau from the lower part of the state, Flagstaff got its start as a lumber town in the 1800s. With the founding of Northern Arizona University in 1899, it has become an intellectual and cultural hub.
