Chile – Islands
The Magellanic Islands
Cruising among the small islands south of the Chilean mainland..

Forest, Moss and Slick Rock
The rock under our feet was planed flat by the glacier when it was larger. This makes it flat and slippery.

Growlers
These small chunks of ice have just spalled off a glacier..

Glaciers of Two Kinds
On the left, a tidewater glacier reaches the sea; the glacier on the right does not.

Tranquil Waters
Nestled between islands, this bay of growlers is a sheltered place to hike. Below: we leave our lifejackets behind when we hike, except on Cape Horn itself.
