Harbour Bridge

This modern highway bridge across the Auckland harbor saved a driving diversion of of many miles. It had been dreamed of since the 1860s.

Old St. Mary’s and the new cathedral

This 1886 church preceded Auckland’s new cathedral, and is now a heritage site. The new cathedral was begun in 1957.

Hundred Mile Beach

Though this black sand beach is located near Auckland, it’s so spacious that any given spot is almost deserted.
