Banks Peninsula

The Christchurch Countryside

This coastal region is formed around two ancient volcanoes just across the hill from Christchurch. The spot shown here is Birding’s Flat, a huge expanse of water-worn slate pebbles on the shoreline.

A Sunnier England

In the 1840s the Canterbury Association chose this area as being most like home. It still retains its British flavor.
