Dunedin

A Touch of Scotland

Located in New Zealand’s far south, Dunedin has a flavor to match its latitude. This is the small boat harbor.
Though no nearly as large as Christchurch, Dunedin’s status as a university town given it the intellectual culture of a much larger city.

In town

Although Dunedin was originally settled in 1848 by Free Church of Scotland , supplemented by fast growth during the 1860s gold rush, it is best known today for the University of Otago. The school has spawned a new wave of technology development in the town.

Dunedin Railway Station

Built in 1875 when service to Christchurch was started, the Victorian colonial architecture of this station has made it the second most photographed building in the southern hemisphere, after the Sydney Opera House.
